Children’s Foot Problems

Flat Feet

Flat feet occur when the arches of the feet do not fully develop, leading to excessive foot pronation. This condition can cause pain, fatigue, and poor balance. Custom orthotic devices and specific exercises can help provide necessary support and promote healthy arch development.

In-toeing (Pigeon Toes)

In-toeing is when a child’s feet turn inward while walking, while out-toeing is when the feet turn outward. These conditions can be a result of rotational issues in the legs or feet. Our practitioners are well trained in using gait plate orthotics to treat pigeon toed and out toed conditions in children in the growing stages of their life.

Osgood Schlatters Disease

Inflammation of the growth plate of the Tibial Tuberosity. A painful condition affecting the knee, common in active adolescents during growth spurts.

Toe Walking

Persistent toe walking beyond the age of 2 can be a concern. It may indicate tight calf muscles or other issues that need assessment and intervention to ensure normal gait development.

Growing Pains

Aching or throbbing in the legs, often occurring at night in children. Growing pains are not related to growth despite the common myth but are mechanical issues.

Knocked knees

Delays in walking and constant tripping are also related to biomechanical issues in children.
