Strapping

Strapping is a highly effective technique used to stimulate mechanoreceptors and enhance proprioception—the body’s sense of joint position and movement. It functions both as a preventative measure against injuries and as a short-term treatment solution. By improving awareness and stability, strapping helps reduce strain on vulnerable joints and tissues during movement.

Strapping in Injury Management

Strapping is most beneficial when integrated into a broader treatment plan. It is often used in conjunction with stretching, strengthening exercises, joint mobilisation, orthotic therapy, and, when appropriate, injections. Common conditions where strapping is applied include heel pain (such as plantar fasciitis and Sever’s Disease), ankle instability, and knee pain related to patellofemoral pain syndrome and Osgood-Schlatter disease.
